alcamar wasn't going to be able to join us for LoTR: The Two Towers in Jackson. Apparently something bad had happened. As of late, he'd been suspecting some rather fishy-smelling dealings with his family. I thought I'd call, wish him well, and try to make rearrange the movie schedule so he could come with us anyway. I chatter along, try to be understanding that he still can't make it. A conversation based on an assumed understanding proceeds and ends.
An hour later I find out that he and Jenn had broken up early this morning and that I'd been pushing to change the movie schedule so that everyone could go together. I called him back, explained awkwardly that earlier when we'd spoken that I'd had no idea what was going on. He was understanding, I was a little embarrassed.
As it turns out, the plans to see LoTR in Jackson was slam-dunked in the trashcan and everyone is now going to Memphis. I wanted so much to go to Jackson, but everyone is going at separate times and either crashing to go to bed for work the next day (for the Tuesday midnight showing) or leaving the next morning to travel (Wednesday evening showing). Plus there was the fear of the tickets already being sold out.
So once again, my desire to see the Jackson crew is thwarted by circumstance.
